Ancient Greek Gods and UFOs?

The Impact of Greek Mythology has had on Western Culture cannot be underestimated, Greek mythology still shapes modern societies. Language, industry, arts and culture all show the influence of ancient Greek mythology.

Central to these beliefs is Mount Olympus, home to the gods but could it have been a real physical place and if it was, were the god’s real flesh and blood beings.

Mount Olympus was said to be found between Thessaly and Macedonia, the highest mountain in Greece standing at an estimated 10000 feet.

This stunningly beautiful area was not lost on the ancient Greek people who believed it was the beauty and remoteness of Mount Olympus that made it a suitable home for the gods.

Twelve major deities’s resided in paradise atop the mountain, from this lofty locale they presided over the goings-on in the human world.

These were five of the children of Cronus and Rhea (Zeus, Poseidon, Hera, Demeter, and Hestia; Hades resided in the Underworld), two of the children of Zeus and Hera (Ares and Hephaestus), four deities who Zeus fathered out of wedlock (Hermes, Hephaestus, Artemis, Apollo) and Aphrodite, the goddess of love born when Uranus’s severed genitals fell into the sea. At a later date, some say that Hestia surrendered her place to Dionysus.

Over the millennia the mountain retreat of the gods began to morph into a place that more resembled the Christian belief of heaven, this as Christianity spread across the region.

There were some similarities before this occurred, the gods lived in a land that provided everything for them they lived in a perpetual paradise feasting on ambrosia and nectar all why listening to magical music and being entertained by the proclivities of mere mortals..
